Okay, so I didn’t actually pinch myself but these two and this wedding were one of those “is this real?!” moments in my job. It was an amazing opportunity to marvel at the kindness and goodness of my couples. Brook and John’s Pima County Historic Courthouse wedding was one for the books.
I met Brook and John at Brook’s twin sister’s wedding in Spring of 2022. I was immediately blown away by the kindness and generosity of spirit shown by that couple and this one here on the screen was no different. This wedding party was a freaking blast. The day started with the groomsmen and cigars by a pool. When talking to the couple about how they wanted to spend their day, the emphasis was on having a good time with their closes people. John and his groomsmen spent their morning by the pool with drinks and cigars before they got dressed. Shenanigans definitely ensued. Jumping into the pool, a
“posing” contest as they got out of the pool, consistently pushing John in, Guy Fieri shirts and so much more fun…
While the girls were, admittedly, a little more chill (ha-ha), I loved spending time with them! This is pretty much the same group of ladies that were apart of Brook’s twin sister’s wedding. We already knew each other and this added to me feeling like one of the gang!
Brook and John chose to see each other before the ceremony and it was such a heartfelt moment. While John’s friends were poking him for crying, it was such a sweet moment to witness. He was raving about the beauty of his bride and they were able to take pictures at the gorgeous Airbnb where they got ready. This led into such fun photos of their full wedding party and family. Again, having spent time with most of these folks before, I felt like one of the gang and was thrilled to celebrate another member in their family.
Brook and John surround themselves with such fun, hilarious and kind people. In a high stress environment such as a wedding, it’s normal to see annoyance and less kind behavior come out. Not for this couple or their people. So much kindness and so much love and support. These are the types of couples I adore working with. These two were there to party and celebrate their love and thank the people who helped them get to this place. The day wasn’t perfect because absolutely no wedding is, but there seemed to be only joy for these two.
Their ceremony and reception was in the heart of Downtown Tucson at the Pima County Historic Courthouse. What a cool venue! John’s face lit up with emotion as Brook walked down the aisle and their wedding party and family greeted them with huge hugs and big smiles after the ceremony.
After the exchanged their vows under the sunset, they enjoyed toasts and dances with their friends and family. A couple memorable moments included John’s parents giving him some treasured childhood toys during their toast and the couple dancing to Mr Brightside and Blink 182 on the dance floor.
It’s been a true pleasure to get to know Brook and John and their families and friends. These two are seriously the type of people who make me incredibly grateful for my job. Thank you, Brook and John and happy first wedding anniversary!
