In honor of celebrating their first anniversary, I’m happy to share Emmy and Patrick’s Fall wedding at Stillwell House in Tucson, Arizona.
Patrick and Emmy met in grad school at the University of Arizona. Starting out as friends, Patrick pursued more and Emmy quickly shut him down. After getting to know each other more as friends, they finally got together! They have a mutual love of the outdoors and music. Emmy is a professional violinist and Patrick plays the drums and guitar. They are big cat people and, since getting to know them, I’ve loved seeing their cat shenanigans online.
Emmy and Patrick began their day at their gorgeous airbnb in one of the historic barrios of Tucson. They got ready with their wedding party and parents and with the help of I Do Hair and Makeup Artistry, one of my favorite hair and makeup teams in town. I loved watching all of Emmy’s friends interact with her and hype her up as she got her makeup done and put on her dress. This was such a silly and fun bunch!
Emmy gifted Patrick a stack of cards she had written to him throughout the course of their relationship. This was one of the coolest things I was able to witness and such a sweet gesture from Emmy. I also loved seeing Emmy’s interactions with her parents. Both of them were so sweet and emotional in their own way.
Patrick, Emmy and their bridesmaids and groomsmen took photos before the ceremony in the historic Tucson barrio. Full of color and joy (and just a little bit of September sun). I absolutely loved the colorful walls, the bright yellow paint and the gorgeous large prickly pears we took photos around. This was the perfect thing to do so the couple could spend time at cocktail hour after the ceremony with their friends.
These two got married in the romantic downtown Tucson wedding venue Stillwell House. It’s a historic home surrounded by greenery and covered in twinkle lights and flowers. It was beautifully decorated by the wedding planner and florist and made for the perfect oasis for Emmy and Patrick to celebrate their wedding ceremony and reception.
Emmy and Patrick did something really cool during their ceremony. It’s becoming more normalized to have an “unplugged” ceremony, or a ceremony where the couple kindly asks the guests to put away their phone and cameras. Instead of enforcing this the entire time, the couple’s officiant announced that they would have a “picture moment” during the very beginning so that the guests would get photos to share of the couple and then enjoy the rest of the ceremony being fully in the moment. I thought this was such a cool compromise of the two ideas and really appreciated seeing it happen.
Emmy and Patrick danced under the stars, enjoyed a celebratory Jewish Hora, had some delicious gelato and soaked in all the love from their family and friends! It was an honor to photograph this couple both in celebrating their engagement and their wedding.
Thank you so much to Emmy and Patrick for choosing me to be their wedding photographer! Huge thanks to the vendor team who helped make this day special.
