Kari and Scott’s Tucson, Arizona backyard wedding was filled with such intentionality. Through the details, the pieces Kari chose to wear, to the favors they offered their guests. The couple even chose to include their sweet rescue pup, Stella, in the festivities. It’s always a joy to work with gracious and intentional people.
Married in Scott’s parent’s backyard, they had an afternoon ceremony. In Arizona, that means harsh light. Contrary to what you might think, I was loving it! Their backyard was filled with cacti and potted succulents and plants. I was having a ton of fun framing the couple around the pieces of the desert. I really allowed myself to be creative and love what we made as a result.
Kari and Scott wanted to honor their family on their wedding day. Their rings are heirlooms from each of their grandparents, one of each of their parents sang during the ceremony, and they wanted to recreate some special photos from family’s weddings in the past.
These two are forging their own path while still seeking to honor where they came from and it was beautiful to witness the start of their new family. I especially love that the couple organized their day to honor their family and beloved guests. Including time set apart to spend with them at cocktail hour and greet them as they entered the house. These were some of my favorite images to capture.
